between two men and arrested one of the
grooms.

paraded alongside fourteen others who were
at the venue of the 'wedding ceremony'.

MUST READ: 8 Mistake Ladies And Guys Make When They Meet Each Other Online

In as much as mistakes are inevitable in
everyday life, some mistakes can be
avoided spontaneously or mistakes can be
made perpetually , as it is common said a
friend at hand is better than a brother
abroad, it is common knowledge that you
can't know someone completely but how
you begin matters alot especially if you
met online, here are some common
mistakes made by both sexes in the cause
of interaction
1. Acting too cold Ladies acting too cold
and uninterested during first chat kills the
zeal and interest of well meaning guys
towards them. Dear ladies, learn to be free
with a guy & be lively, stop acting as if you
just came out from a cold room,or your in a
sober period or someone gonna die if you
act lively
2. Replying with code words Replying with
one letter words like- k, gud, hw, wen, fyn,
etc...this is a crime to human
communication; no matter your gender &
who u are chatting with, learn to stop it.
(later if you fail exams now you go
begin blame one spirit wey no the exist)
3. Asking for picture too soon - guys are
fond of this bad habit of asking a lady they
met online for her pics you be graphic
designer? even on their first day of chat;
please guys stop it! Get to know her first &
see beyond her. Physical looks. Let me put
it to you "THE LOVE OF BEAUTY iS THE ROLL
OF DICE " implying when casting a dice you
may get a very wrong number when you
targeting a bigger number
4. Asking what he does for a living: this is a
big crime our ladies commit! Yes, its
good to know what he does for a living but
this usually send wrong signal to a guy
with good intentions towards you, so avoid
it and gradually get to know him & not just
what he does & how much he earns.you
need to look beyond his pocket to get the
best out of a man.
5. Sex chat: many guys today are so fond of
this nonsense, guys please grow up! Even if
u must sex chat with her, pls knw her first
& make sure u two are into each other,

7. Late responses: nothing kills a guy's
interest in a lady he met online like late
responses & busy-forming attitude, makes
the guy feel u don't take him serious or
that u have plenty male admirers keeping
u busy! If your really that busy why no
contest for presidency so it will be obvious
stop it
8. Being too rigid! Never say never! That
guy or lady u met online today & feel he's
nobody or that she's ugly...or that he has
nothing to offer for u may be your true

guys have lost their true partners out of
being too rigid and principled. Sometimes,
play fool & see what nature/life has in store
for you!

Pictures of a Baby Born with No Eyes

Richie Lopez, pictured above, is 3 months old
and is a baby boy that was born without eyes
to a family in Arizona.
According to his mother, Kelly Lopez, she had
a completely normal pregnancy. Her
ultrasounds never hinted her son would be
born without eyes. However, hours after
Richie's birth at Banner Desert Medical Center
in Mesa, Lopez became concerned when her
son still had not opened his eyes.
The staff, at first, thought his face was simply
swollen from birth. Thirteen days later, his
mother says
an MRI showed Richie did not have eyes.
"I think we were just in shock. Obviously very
upsetting," she told 3TV. "The first thought
through your mind is, how did this even
happen and how was it not even caught?"
The family still has no answers, and various
doctors have said that the condition is
extremely rare.
At seven weeks, Richie had expanders placed
in his eye sockets, which are designed to allow
the socket to grow and one day be able to hold
a prosthetic eyeball. They were held in with
sutures, but during feedings and burpings,
Richie managed to rub them both out.
One was lost and presumably eaten by the
family dog. Lopez found the other, and while
on the phone with a surgeon at 2 a.m., she was
able to re-insert it.
"It was so emotional, but I knew I had to do it.
I knew that he needed this and I had no other
choice; we were going to get it back in," Lopez
recalled.
The family members quickly developed a
positive attitude, but they are still learning to
deal with insensitive comments from people
in public. Richie now wears a pair of baby
sunglasses.
Doctors told the family Richie does have an
optic nerve, which keeps hope alive about him
being able to see one day.
"That would be amazing," his mother said. "I
do hope that one day that they'll be able to
either grow an eye or transplant an eye."
Richie is already enrolled in developmental
programs designed for blind babies and plays
with specially designed toys. The family is
determined to see him live a life that is
challenging but full.

Health and Emotional Benefits of Hugging and Cuddling

I was discoursing relationship and love-life
with a friend earlier today, and during the
discourse, he mentioned that hugging and
cuddling have health and emotional
benefits..and I was like 'Tell me something', so
I googled it, and found this great article from
HealthMeUp. Find it below..
Laughing, cuddling and hugging not only
display your affection towards your loved one,
but it can also be a health benefit. Multiple
researchers conclude that hugging and
cuddling can cure depression, stress, tension,
anxiety and loneliness.
A proper hug where you heart touches the
other person's heart can aid you with the
following health benefits:
Hugging leads to release of love hormones
called Oxytocin, which fights feeling of
depressions, loneliness and also fits of anger.
It promotes a sense of safety, trust and
honesty in a person.
A long hug results in an increase in serotonin
levels, which elevates your mood and makes
your happy.
As mentioned on mindbodygreen, "Hugs
strengthen the immune system. The gentle
pressure on the sternum and the emotional
charge this creates activates the Solar Plexus
Chakra. This stimulates the thymus gland,
which regulates and balances the body's
production of white blood cells, which keep
you healthy and disease free."
Hugging is a way improves one's self esteem
and helps in nurturing the ability to love
oneself.
As they boost blood circulation to the softer
tissues hugs can ease your pains, relax your
muscles and can also relax your body.
Hugs are similar to meditation or even
laughter. You're mind stops thinking and you
live in the moment. So you get out of your
circular thinking patterns and unite with your
heart, emotions and breathing simultaneously.
Hugs get you out of your circular thinking
patterns and connect you with your heart and
your feelings and your breath.
According to Virginia Satir, an American author
and psychotherapist, "We need four hugs a day
for survival. We need eight hugs a day for
maintenance. We need twelve hugs a day for
growth."

Boko Haram Attacks "Ordained By God" – Shettima

The Governor of Borno State, Kashim
Shettima, on Monday, asked victims of the
Boko Haram attack in Monguno to see the
incident as "ordained by God". He also prayed
for God's intervention to bring an end to the
security challenges.
Mr. Shettima, in a statement in Maiduguri,
expressed sadness over Sunday's attempt by
Boko Haram to take over Maiduguri, the Borno
State capital.
He asked the residents of the state to remain
calm and reassured them that security forces
were making frantic efforts to safeguard lives
and property.
He commended the gallantry of the military in
repelling the attack on the state capital.
He, however, regretted the attack on
Monguno, headquarters of Monguno Local
Government Area in the northern part of the
state.
He said that as result of that, properties were
destroyed, lives were lost and many people
were now taking refuge in different parts of
the state with some sustaining gun injuries.
Mr. Shettima said the government was
screening and taking records of surviving
victims from Monguno with a view to
accommodating and offering them immediate
palliatives as internally displaced persons.
The statement said the administration was
providing necessary support to armed forces
involved in counter insurgency operations
across the state.
He promised to continue to do everything
humanly possible until territories seized by
insurgents were reclaimed and sustainable
peace and stability achieved.

Yuguda, an APC mole in PDP —FCT minister

The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Senator Bala
Mohammed, has described the Bauchi State Governor,
Isa Yuguda, as an All Progressives Congress' mole in
the Peoples Democratic Party.
Mohammed, who denied being the mastermind of the
attack on President Goodluck Jonathan's convoy in
Bauchi by political thugs on January 22, described
Yuguda's allegation against him as irrational.
The governor had fingered Mohammed as the sponsor
of the attack on the President's convoy during a
campaign in Bauchi, but the minister in a statement by
his special aide on media, Nosike Ogbuenyi, in Abuja
on Monday, stated that Yuguda's allegation was
embarrassing.
He queried the governor's allegiance to the PDP and
wondered when he became the APC spokesman.
Mohammed said, "It is simply irrational for Governor
Yuguda to allege that the minister hired thugs to stone
and embarrass himself (minister) while addressing the
presidential rally in his home state. By this claim,
Yuguda has proven correct the allegation that he has
been hobnobbing with the APC at night and running
with the PDP in daytime.
"By Yuguda's latest embarrassing conduct, he has
successfully exposed his chameleonic character as an
APC mole in the PDP. We call on Isa Yuguda to please
respect himself by leaving Senator Bala Mohammed
alone."
The minister wondered why the governor exonerated
the APC of culpability in the attack on the PDP
presidential campaign team in Bauchi, noting that
Yuguda had not been campaigning for Jonathan in his
state.
"Many Nigerians still remember recent media reports
that Yuguda is the real godfather and sponsor of the
APC governorship candidate in Bauchi State and that
he has not been campaigning for President Jonathan's
re-election in the state. Again, history is there to
expose the governor as an unabashed fifth columnist
in the PDP," Mohammed stated.
He said that he had consistently suffered attacks from
the negative politics in the state for his support for the
President, adding that in 2011, thugs protesting
against Jonathan's victory in the elections, razed down
his two-storey building and almost killed his mother
and other relatives in Bauchi.
The minister stated that his only sin was that he
mobilised lawmakers to invoke the 'Doctrine of
Necessity' to confer powers on the then Vice President
Jonathan to act as President while the late President
Umaru Musa Yar'Adua was away in Saudi Arabia for
Medical Intention

Buhari ’ll lead military to fight B’Haram – Osinbajo

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives
Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) will
lead the military to the North-East to fight the Boko
Haram insurgents if voted into power on February 14,
his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), said on
Monday.
Osinbajo expressed concern over deepening
insecurity in the country and accused President
Goodluck Jonathan of reneging on his promise to
protect Nigerians.
Fielding questions from a group of youths at a town
hall meeting in Abuja, the APC vice presidential
candidate said Buhari as President and Commander-
In-Chief would lead by example.
The town hall meeting held under the aegis of Act Now
Professionals.
Osinbajo told the gathering how the Buhari-led
government would end insurgency in the country,
especially in the North-East states of Borno, Yobe and
Adamawa.
He also explained how the APC-led government would
rescue the over 200 female students of Government
Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, seized since
April 14 2014; equip the military and give the country
a sense of protection.
Osinbajo said, "The first priority is security and to
question what has gone wrong in the military. Then,
funding the military adequately and ensuring that the
Commander-In-Chief leads from the front. But when
he was Commander-In-Chief, Buhari led from the
front as a soldier. You cannot lead from the rear. You
cannot fail to go to where the insurgency is taking
place and that is what Buhari has been saying.
"I think that the major problem with the question of
security is again that it was not prioritised by this
government. It was not taken seriously enough from
the beginning. When you have a situation, you do not
politicise the insurgency like that. You do not point to
the opposition and say it is the opposition that is
sponsoring it until General Buhari almost lost his life
when Boko Haram attacked him.
"We must start by understanding that there is a war
going on in that part of the country and what the
government need to do is to get the nation behind it,
not pointing accusing fingers at wrong places.
"We need to look at the whole question of funding and
equipping the military. The military at the moment is
not equipped. I worked with Femi Falana on the
mutiny of some solders and what is the complaint of
those soldiers who were charged with mutiny? Their
complaint is that they were not given equipment and
they wanted them to go to battle. So, how do you say
that? How does anybody think that you can fight the
insurgents without ammunitions?"
The APC vice presidential candidate said that there
would be no hiding place for perpetrators of graft as
the country's laws that forbid looting of public
treasury would be activated.
According to him, the APC will run a transparent
government where public officials would be
accountable to the people.
Osinbajo said creation of jobs for the country's youths
remained on top of the agenda of the APC if elected
into office.
"Jobs and creation of employment opportunities have
been major issues in the manifesto of the APC," he told
the audience.
He re-echoed the party's earlier promise that the
Buhari-led government would place jobless and poor
Nigerians on monthly stipends of N5,000 and N7,000
respectively.
"The idea is to take 2.5 million people out of poverty
every year. We will give free healthcare to children. We
will follow the example of Osun State where such has
been done successfully," he said.

Lawyer sues over Buhari’s certificate

A legal practitioner, Mr. Chukwunweike Okafor, on
Monday, approached the Federal High Court in Abuja
with an application seeking a declaration that the
presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress,
Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), lacked the
educational qualification to stand for the February 14
presidential election.
The originating summons marked FHC/ABJ/
CS/01/2015 has Buhari, APC and the Independent
National Electoral Commission as the first, second and
third defendants respectively.
The suit was filed pursuant to Section 131 of the
Constitution, which prescribes a minimum
qualification for nomination to participate in the
presidential election and Section 31 of the Electoral
Act that requires all presidential candidates to depose
to an affidavit that they have satisfied and complied
with the constitutional requirements to be President
of Nigeria.
Okafor, in the suit filed through his counsel, Chief Ugo
Ugunnadi, is contending that Buhari's form CF001 with
the INEC, wherein he stated that he obtained the
minimum educational qualification of West African
Senior School Certificate could not be valid as the said
certificate was allegedly false or not genuine.
The plaintiff, among other things, is asking the court to
declare that "the information contained in Buhari's
affidavit dated November 24, 2014, stating that the
Secretary of the Military Board was in custody of his
WASSC was false and thereby disqualified him from
contesting the 2015 general elections."
The lawyer is therefore seeking an order of the court
"compelling INEC to withdraw, remove and/or delete
the names of the 1st and 2nd defendants from the list
of persons or political parties eligible to contest for the
Office of the President of Nigeria in the 2015 general
elections."
The courts reopened today after being shut down for
three weeks by the striking judicial workers in the
country.
No date has yet been fixed to hear Okafor's originating
summons.

Fighter jets pound B’Haram locations in Monguno

Gunshots boomed again in Monguno, Borno State on
Monday as troops, backed by fighter jets, launched a
major offensive to recapture the city from militant
islamist sect, Boko Haram.
"The operation resumed on Monguno this (Monday)
morning through air bombardment to dislodge the
insurgents," a Defence Headquarters source told
Reuters news agency.
The source made this known as the death toll from the
foiled bid by the sect to capture Maiduguri is believed
to have risen from 65 to 100.
The sect had launched simultaneous attacks on
Maiduguri, Monguno, Kodunga and Gubio on Sunday.
While its fighters were repelled in Maiduguri, Gubio
and Kodunga, they overran Monguno after soldiers
who engaged them in gun battle retreated.
A military barracks in the city was seized and the
Brigade commander wounded by the insurgents.
The Defence Headquarters, in one of its tweets on
Monday, said the troops inflicted more casualties on
fleeing insurgents while military locations in Maiduguri
and Konduga were reinforced.
It further stated that the troops captured a large
number of heavy military hardware from the
insurgents.
The tweet read, "Our forces recorded some casualties.
Meanwhile, ground troops are in charge and Air Force
patrol on going at Maiduguri and Konduga.
"Substantial amount of heavy weapons have been
captured as more terrorists died in the fight which
lasted till early Monday morning."
5,000 flee to Maiduguri
The National Emergency Management Agency
Information Officer in the North-East, AbdulKadir
Ibrahim, told The PUNCH, that 5,000 persons that fled
the captured town had been registered in Maiduguri.
He said that the Borno State Government provided an
almost completed housing estate for the IDPs.
Ibrahim explained that 2,000 of them arrived the state
capital on Sunday and 3,000 on Monday.
He said, "We are expecting more people; we have put
the needed materials for them to settle well in the
camp."
Reuters also reported that majority of those killed in
the Maiduguri fighting were Boko Haram members.
It said that a Maiduguri-based journalist, Bello Dukku,
who visited a mortuary in the city counted 100 bodies,
including 15 soldiers.
According to Dukku, 50 people injured in the
fighting.
Meanwhile, the curfew imposed on Maiduguri after
the Sunday attack has been lifted.
A spokesman for the Army in the state, Col. Sani
Usman, said, "The curfew has been lifted. People can
go about their legitimate business."
The state Governor, Kashim Shettima, had earlier on
Monday explained to the residents of the city that the
curfew was imposed "to enable security personnel to
carry out their operations."
He said, "I call on the people of Borno State not to
panic. This is our land. No fear, no flight, no retreat.
We should not flee. We have a history dating back
1,000 years and I swear by Allah, we are going to
subdue them (Boko Haram)."
The governor, who also described the attack on
Monguno as bad, said, " I will not lie to you. People are
trooping to Maiduguri. They are being protected by
the military outside the city.
"There is a need for screening before they are allowed
in."
Meanwhile, an A online news medium, TheCable, said
in its report on Monday that the insurgents attacked
Michika, in Adamawa State, "killing people and burning
houses".
It quoted a a source as having said that the terrorists
arrived in the town at about 2pm on Monday "firing
gunshots indiscriminately and burning houses."
"People who are running, trying to escape but are
being shot. The soldiers are engaging them(insurgents)
right now and I hope they overcome them," he added.

BREAKING NEWS: Obasanjo Decamp To APC

This is not just breaking news, it is also
breath-taking but it is always our pleasure to
bring you firsthand information so as to
keep you abreast of happenings in and out
of Nigeria.
Research has it that the former President of
Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo aka OBJ, has
finally defected to the GMB-Driven party –
APC.
This is a shocker but speaking with the
former President OBJ himself at his farm in
Ota, he has given a few reasons why his
defecting should not just be accepted by
Nigerians but should also be applauded.
Find his statement below:
"I have reason to believe that most or
should I say all of you are wondering why I
have chosen to defect to the defunct APC
and I must say that if I had been told that I
would have to switch party some 5 years
ago, I myself would have argued it.
I believe in transparency and integrity but
unfortunately, PDP is an opposite of such
attributes.
They dwell in deception and in the lowest
form of debase if I may say.
I believe change is what Nigeria needs and
regardless of whether GMB can deliver or
not, it is still change in a way. Nigeria needs
to be delivered from a useless government
that has taken over since I left presidency.
If you have read my book, you will see that
Jonathan is nothing different from my VP
when I was president. Atiku was just a big
time backbiter unknown to him that when
you have people behind you, your back
actually becomes visible to you.
I want to use this medium to say a very big
thank you to the leaders of the APC for
accepting me as I am and I am proud to say
that come 2015, APC is taking over Nigeria
for good of us all.
I am a civilian like you all now so I
understand what it means to live in the
suburbs as you are all aware that I stay
nowhere else apart from my village here in
Ota.
Finally, I would like to implore all Nigerians
that come 2015 Elections, VOTE GOOD
GOVERNMENT NOT GOOD LUCK"

Why We Have Not Been Able To Rescue Chibok Girls – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has clarified why the
central government had not possessed the capacity to
recover the stole Chibok young ladies.
Talking, yesterday, at the castle of the Shehu of Borno,
where he had gone to pay tribute to the conventional
ruler, when his crusade train got to the state, the
president faulted the non-recover of the stole Chibok
young ladies on outside powers.
He however guaranteed that his organization would do
everything conceivable to end the Boko Haram
uprising in the advancing months.
He guaranteed that his organization would revamp the
regions influenced by the rebellion after the
administration closes it.
This will be accomplished utilizing activities like the
Victim Support Fund, Presidential Initiative for North-
east and Safe School Initiative.
Budgetary assignment to the influenced states will
likewise be expanded.
Jonathan pledged that his organization would
reconstruct and overhaul Borno State in such a path,
to the point that kids will have admittance to
instruction and better future.
"We feel the torment of Borno individuals. I for one
vibe more tormented when individuals blame me for
being included in the issue for some political
preference.
I have said it ordinarily that my aspiration is not
justified even despite the blood of any Nigerian.
What's more I don't think any president or person can
do what they blame me for doing," the president said.
"The Boko Haram issue is the thing that I thought we
would have finished long prior yet may be outer
impact or investment is influencing us.
I am guaranteeing you however that it won't take us
more than a couple of months to end this uprising and
restore peace in Borno.
"Our kin must come back to their groups. Insha
Allahu, we will recover our Chibok young ladies,"
Jonathan said.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR On the AgriFest 2015 Occasion

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR On the AgriFest 2015 Occasion
Statement of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR On the AgriFest 2015 Occasion.
PROTOCOLS
1.           Today is a remarkable day in the history of our great nation, a day of celebration and solidarity with our dear farmers who supply our food, which is the foundation for human life. In furtherance of our rejuvenation and redefinition of Agriculture, and your earnest partnership in this revolution, I am exceptionally delighted to receive you all today.
2.           Our nation is blessed with abundant agricultural resources, but for too long we have depended on crude oil and neglected agriculture. This situation created poverty and suffering in our rural communities.
3.            When I appointed Dr. Akinwumi Adesina as the Minister of Agriculture, I charged him to turn agriculture around. My vision was clear – turn agriculture away from being a sector for managing poverty to one for creating wealth. We now see agriculture as a business, not as a development program. We now focus on developing the agricultural value chains, from the farm to processing and value addition. And we now focus on the private sector driving the agricultural sector with investments.
4.            We have transformed the face of agriculture. Our country is producing more food than ever before. Our national food production has expanded by 21 million metric tons within the past three years. Our food import bill declined from N1.1 trillion in 2009 to N634 billion in 2013 and continues to decline. This is progress and we must continue to move forward!
5.            We ended the corruption of forty years in the fertilizer sector. Our farmers now receive their fertilizers through the electronic wallet system using their mobile phones. Within the past three years, over 14.5 million farmers have been reached through the GES program. Our farmers that previously begged for fertilizers or are given fertilizers in bowls, now receive 2-3 bags of subsidized fertilizers. We have restored dignity and hope back to our farmers. There is much to celebrate in this sector.
6.            The number of seed companies has increased from 11 to 134 within the past three years, allowing farmers to be reached with high quality seeds. I am proud of the Nigerian seed companies, who together have now increased the volume of seeds available to farmers from 4,252Metric tons in 2011 to over 149,484metric tons today. This again is progress and we must continue to move forward!
7.            Our fertilizer sector is booming with N900 Billion naira ($5 billion dollars) of new investments that will make our nation self-sufficient in fertilizers and turn us into a net exporter of fertilizers. As this happens, the price of fertilizers will decline, and farmers will be able to afford more fertilizers to boost their food production. I celebrate the private sector investors who are boosting our fertilizer sector. Again, this is progress and we must continue to move forward!
8.            With N900 Billion ($5 billion) of new investments in the fertilizer sector, Nigeria will soon become self-sufficient in fertilizer production, and turn into a net exporter of fertilizer. As this happens, the price of fertilizers will decline, and farmers will be able to afford more fertilizers to boost their food production. I celebrate the private sector investors who are boosting our fertilizer sector. This is progress and we must continue to move forward!
9.           Rice farmers across the country have a new lease of life, due to the transformation taking place in the sector. Over 6 million rice farmers have received improved rice seed varieties, boosting domestic rice production by an additional 7 million metric tons. The rice revolution is taking place across the country, from Kebbi, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Bauchi, Gombe, Niger, Kogi, Ogun, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Rivers, Anambra, Delta, Edo to Bayelsa State.
10.      High quality Nigerian rice is now competing favourable with imported rice in the markets. Our rice millers have taken advantage of these new opportunities, and the number of integrated rice mills has expanded from 1 (one) at the beginning of this administration, to 24 today. And they are all here today. I celebrate you all. I eat Nigerian rice and can tell you it is better than imported rice.
11.      Nigeria our dear country will not be held hostage by rice importers. There will be no sacred cows under my watch. All those owing Nigeria on rice import duties must pay.
12.      I am also excited for our sorghum farmers, whose lives have changed as they now get better markets and higher prices from private companies processing sorghum into high energy foods, breakfast cereals and malt drinks.
13.       Our maize farmers are also part of this revolution. With our support, they produced 10 million metric tons of maize in the past three years. What a feat! From the vast maize belts of the northwest, north central Nigeria, to the maize fields in the southwest and southeast of Nigeria, a new dawn has arrived. Today, there is surplus maize in Nigeria, thanks to your gallant efforts.
14.       The cassava sector has also been transformed. We have provided farmers with 130 million stems of high yielding cassava varieties. As a result, our cassava production rose from 45million metric tons in 2010 to 55million metric tons. Today, cassava flour is partially substituting for imported wheat for making bread. I am proud of the thousands of master bakers of Nigeria who have been trained and have taken on the challenge to produce cassava bread through the N1.6 billion fund we provided to support their businesses. The Nigerian flour milling industry has now embraced the cassava flour policy.
15.       Today, composite cassava-wheat flour by the Flours Mills of Nigeria and Honeywell Group have gone commercial at the industry level with the recent launch of 10% cassava composite flour. Congratulations!
16.       We have helped to establish over 5,500 hectares of fully mechanized cassava farms in 22 States of the Nation. We have provided N6 billion to support the establishment of 6 large scale cassava flour processing factories in Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Abia, Cross Rivers and Nassarawa States. I am proud of our cassava farmers.
17.       Our cotton farmers are seeing a dramatic change in their fortunes as our support provided thousands of farmers with improved cotton seeds. We have revived 22 cotton ginneries. We have launched a new program to revive the textile and garments industry. We are turning cotton into white gold for farmers. I celebrate our cotton farmers.
18.      Our cocoa farmers are also witnessing a boom, as we are distributing to them 45.5 million seedlings of high yielding cocoa varieties, all free of charge.
19.      Today, from the L and Z commercial farms in Kanofresh dairy milk is now being produced and supplied to major supermarkets across the country. Thousands of Fulani cattle herders can now supply their milk to private dairy companies. We will continue to support our livestock herders with improvement in grazing facilities, watering points, establishment of ranches, stock routes and provision of veterinary services.
20.      We will continue to work hard to end cattle rustling and rebuild trust and cooperation between farmers and herders. I am proud of our livestock farmers, as I am proud of our farmers. We must unite and celebrate together.
21.      I am also happy today to see the positive changes happening in the fisheries sector. For the first time, fish farmers – from artisanal fishermen to aquaculture producers – are being provided across the country with subsidized fish farming inputs, including fishing nets, subsidized fishing boats and outboard engines, fish feed and other inputs.
22.      For the first time in our nation’s history, Nigeria acquired a deep sea marine vessel that will allow us to better harness the vastness of marine resources in our deep seas. From the small fishermen all across Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Edo and Akwa-Ibom in the south-south, to the boisterous fishing communities in Argungu Emirate in Kebbi and Sokoto states, Kano and Niger states, let me assure you of my full support to transform the fish sector of Nigeria.
23.      To further spur the traditional fishing competition in Argungu and promote fishing eco-tourism, I hereby direct the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to provide, henceforth, annual financial support for the Argungu festival.
24.      Nigeria’s oil palm story is changing. We are providing 9 million sprouted nuts of high yielding oil palm seedlings for farmers, all across the south-east, south-west, south-south and north-central parts of our country.
25.      Over N45 billion in private sector investments in new oil palm plantations are on-going. We expect 70,000 hectares of new plantations to allow Nigeria to become self-sufficient in palm oil production by 2016.
26.      I am excited that today, Okomu, Presco, PZ-Wilmar and medium size oil palm estate operators such as Wilbahi are taking the lead in revamping our vast oil palm plantations. We will continue to support the revamping of our oil palm industry and support the private sector to build new refineries to process crude palm oil produced in Nigeria.
27.      The future of the agriculture sector will depend on creating opportunities for our youth. That is why I launched the Youth Employment in Agriculture Program (YEAP), to develop a new generation of 750,000 young commercial farmers and agribusiness leaders for Nigeria.
28.      We are also catching our youth early to change their mind-set on agriculture, through the Schools in Agriculture Program.
29.       We are making agriculture more attractive. That is why I approved the provision of N50 billion to support the establishment of 1,200 Agricultural Equipment Hiring Enterprises across the country. Our goal is to take the hoes and cutlasses into the museums and replace them with tractors and mechanized equipment.
30.       I am very pleased that Nollywood is waking up to see agriculture as a business. I urge our film producers, actors and actresses to help project the positive image of agriculture as a business. That way our youths will see agriculture as profitable and dignifying.
31.       I salute the private sector agribusiness leaders, who are working to boost agro-processing and value addition to all the produce in the agricultural sector. We must add value to everything we produce and create wealth all across the agricultural value chains.
32.      I celebrate the efforts of the financial institutions, from banks to micro-finance institutions that have now began to lend more to farmers and agribusinesses. Our Development Partners have seen the turnaround in the agriculture sector and are actively supporting the sector. Over N900 Billion ($ 5 billion) of private investments have come into the sector in the last three years.
33.      Great farmers of Nigeria, today is your day to be celebrated. Thank you for feeding Nigeria. Despite the devaluation of the Naira, food prices have been stable, and inflation is declining, due to your great efforts in producing more food.
34.      You can do even more, and turn Nigeria into a net exporter of food. That is why government is rapidly expanding irrigation facilities all across the country.
35.      For the first time ever, the Federal Government launched a National Dry Season Farming Program in 2012. This has changed the fortunes of farmers, especially all across the northern states of Nigeria. Farmers now produce food all year round. Not only is food production rising rapidly, thousands of jobs are being created for the youth who now have quality jobs.
36.      Agriculture is now the lifeline for Nigeria. As crude oil prices decline, we must create new wealth from the richness of our soils, the vastness of our rivers and the abundance of our cheap labour. We will produce more, and we will industrialize the agricultural sector.
37.       Let me commend the Minister of Agriculture and his team for their hard work, creativity, innovations and business-like approach, which have totally changed the face of agriculture in Nigeria. I am proud of you, our farmers are proud of you and the nation is proud of you.
38.       Great farmers of Nigeria, you can rely on me as the Farmers’ President. Be assured of my support at all times. To further boost your efforts to produce more food for our nation, I am pleased to announce here today the release of N26 billion naira towards the 2015 Dry Season Farming Programme.
39.       I am here today as your President. With your support I hope to be here next year as your President and then I will do even more for you. Great farmers! Great Nation!
40.      I thank you all.
